Paris-based Aequam Capital, an independent quantitative fund manager established last year by Arnaud Chretien, has launched the Aequam Currencies Fund: a UCITS III-compliant systematic multi-currency fund. Chretien himself is to manage the new fund along with Lionel Lefebvre and Alonso Rivas. It is available in two currencies, Euro and US Dollar, and targets professional investors including multi-managers, family offices and private banks. The firm says that the fund will be uncorrelated to equity and bond markets and will distinguish itself through risk management. The fund will invest in G10 currencies and nine emerging market currencies and will base portfolio performance on four key drivers that include: trend following (to identify suitable currency pairs); carry trades; interest rate movements, and finally risk appetite using a proprietary indicator. No one at the firm was available to comment at the time of writing.
