Dutch hedge funds lose ground in June

Dutch hedge funds on average lost -2,15% in June, as measured by the Finles/IEX Dutch hedge fund index. Losses were roughly in line with other liquid hedge fund indices (Deutsche Bank and Lyxor).

June proved to be a difficult month for hedge fund as equity, government bond and commodity indices all retreated. Greek government debt and other issues worried investors enough to prefer cash over investments.

The global hedge fund market experienced net inflows in June, for the seventh month in a row. The net inflow in June was $2,6 billion (source: Eurekahedge).

The best performing Dutch hedge fund this year is the Tradewind Equity Fund, managed by Leen den Hollander. Leen den Hollander is the former head of Equities at Delta Lloyd and an experienced hedge fund manager (previously ran a hedge fund at Kempen). His fund was nominated for a EuroHedge award in 2010.
