Citigroup continues to bolster its prime brokerage capabilities in Asia by hiring David Murphy from Deutsche Bank AG to head up its APAC prime finance unit reported Reuters recently. The bank now has in excess of 80 staff working in the region as it battles to win market share from the likes of Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse. Murphy was co-head of Deutsche’s prime finance unit. He will report to Nick Roe (pictured) in London, Citi’s global head of prime finance and futures, and Singapore-based Rodrigo Zorilla, head of markets in Asia Pacific. Hannah Goodwin, who currently heads up the prime finance business in Asia will continue in the role until Murphy joins in December. Goodwin will report to Murphy and take the role of prime brokerage head, APAC, and manage all client-facing business.
