DMS Management (Ireland) Limited (DMS) has been appointed as director to the Monsoon Asia-Pacific Systematic Fund (MAPS), a Dublin-based UCITS IV fund with daily liquidity.
MAPS is one of the first alternative strategy UCITS IV funds authorised in Ireland.
MAPS is a fully systematic managed futures strategy, focusing on the most liquid equity indices across the following Asia-Pacific markets: Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Japan, Australia and Singapore. The strategy dynamically adjusts net exposures based on price patterns, resulting in low correlated returns to major indices.
While the UCITS fund came online in September, the investment manager (Monsoon Capital LLC) has been trading the program since November 2010 with proprietary capital. From November 2010 through August 2011, the program has generated a net return of 51.5% with a monthly correlation to the MSCI Asia-Pacific Index of only 0.08%, and has performed well in tail risk environments such as the Japanese earthquake (March 2011 +11.8%) and US credit downgrade (August 2011 +17.5%).
