Swedish fund selectors look like they’ll be favouring hedge funds as part of their investment strategies but alternative UCITS funds may struggle according to a Citywire survey. A rather convincing 81 per cent of fund selectors polled in the survey said that they planned on investing in hedge funds and alternative UCITS hedge funds over the next two years. Critically though, 74 per cent said they expected to see increased fund flows, with only a quarter believing that the regulated fund structure would: good news for the offshore guys but not exactly encouraging for those running onshore strategies. Just over half (55 per cent) of selectors said they expected more hedge fund launches in Sweden by 2014, slightly higher than the 45 per cent who opted for alternative UCITS.
