HedgeOp Compliance, a provider of specialised compliance consulting services and software for investment advisers in the US, is strengthening its New York office with the appointment of Derek McGibney who is relocating from IMS’ UK office.
McGibney is a leading consultant in UK and European regulatory architecture and the management of compliance risk and joins as a senior project director. He worked in IMS’ London office for more than eight years and has been involved in consulting on all aspects of governance, compliance and operational risk for top tier global financial services companies for more than 15 years.
McGibney’s addition to the New York office will strengthen its UK and European expertise, bolster the global service offering and facilitate the rollout of UK services to US-based clients, at a time of unprecedented swathes of regulation on both sides of the Atlantic.
In addition, HedgeOp has hired Steven Vecchio, as vice president in compliance in its New York office, and Nebosjsa Obradovic and Zachary Rosenberg as compliance associates in its Boston and San Fransisco offices respectively.
William Mulligan, CEO of HedgeOp Compliance LLC, says: “We are seeing increasing demand for our services and expertise as the regulatory regime continues to tighten.
“Derek’s encyclopaedic knowledge of European regulatory architecture and his sophisticated approach to the management of compliance risks will expedite HedgeOp’s incorporation of IMS’ UK intellectual property to our procedures as well as our patented software applications.
“Clients will now have the best of both worlds when dealing with the complexity of managing compliance for both US and UK tasks and responsibilities. Our clients will benefit from the simplification of dealing with just one service provider and one highly regarded compliance software application. The new hires will also bolster our ever growing domestic presence.”
Prior to joining HedgeOp, Vecchio worked for five and a half years as an associate in the Investment Management Practice Group for law firm Bingham McCutchen LLP where he was responsible for advising unregistered and registered investment advisers regarding the formation and structuring of hedge funds and private equity funds.
Obradovic previously worked as a compliance officer for Heritage House Asset Management, an SEC registered investment adviser where he was responsible for ensuring the legal compliance of its advisory practice.
Rosenberg joins from Jacko Law Group where he began as a law clerk in May 2008 and was promoted to associate in December 2009, focusing on compliance and regulatory work for investment advisers, hedge funds and private equity firms.
