With a flood of new regulations set to emerge over the next few months, US hedge funds and service providers need to pay close attention to compliance and regulatory issues even as they battle to stay abreast of their performance forecasts.
Delivering the keynote address at the Hedgeweek USA Awards 2012 held this week in New York, Jeffrey Rosenthal (pictured), Partner and head of the financial services practice at Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP, noted that with the growing institutionalisation of the hedge funds market, managers need to build and maintain strong record keeping procedures in areas ranging from compensation agreements to compliance.
Opening the event, held at the Gansevoort Hotel in NYC, Hedgeweek Publisher Sunil Gopalan noted that this year’s winners are a diverse cross-section of managers and services providers from states across the USA, proving that the industry is thriving outside established centres such as New York and Chicago, with the winning managers demonstrating resilience and consistency in the face of tough markets.
