Related Topics

Mourant Ozannes has opened an office in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in response to demand from clients and intermediaries for BVI legal services.

The new BVI office opens with three partners and will focus initially on corporate, international finance, investment funds, investment business regulation, insolvency and litigation services.

Michael Williams, who specialises in corporate, banking and finance work and is described by clients in the Legal 500 directory as "extremely thorough and very responsive”, is relocating to the BVI to oversee the establishment of the office as Managing Partner.

Rachael McDonald leads Mourant Ozannes’ global BVI corporate, banking and finance teams. She has practised in the BVI for the last six years and is a BVI notary public. Legal directory, Chambers and Partners notes that Rachael has "a strong reputation" in the BVI, with clients commenting that "she is excellent to deal with."

Shaun Folpp leads Mourant Ozannes’ BVI litigation and insolvency practice. He has practiced as a litigator in the Caribbean for the last five years including acting for the liquidators in the Weavering Macro Fixed Income Fund case. Client feedback published in Chambers and Partners notes that Folpp "excels in terms of the quality of his advice."

The three partners based in the BVI will work closely with BVI qualified lawyers across the firm and Mourant Ozannes is now able to provide BVI legal advice directly from the BVI and from our other offices in Asian and European time zones.
