Fighters give it their best in seventh Hedge Fund Fight Nite

Finance professionals punched out in an eight-bout tournament at the seventh Xie Shares Hedge Fund Fight Nite.

 
In usual fashion, the event was conducted in a marquee set-up on the grounds of the Indian Recreation Club. At 6.30pm, guests dressed in black tie made their way to the show grounds for pre-event drinks courtesy of Links Concept.
 
HSBC supporters were anxious to see if HSBC would retain its undefeated title, while the fights that drew the most attention were the fight between Chinese fighter Jimmy Heng (Michael Page) and Sam Biggins (Colliers International), and the women’s fight of Eleni Himaras (Bloomberg) and Devi Kumar (Charterhouse Partnership).

Both HSBC representatives Dominic Smith and Richie Gifford succeeded in defending HSBC’s undefeated record of wins as both walked away as champions.
 
At intervals between the bouts, a charity auction and raffle was conducted to raise funds for charities Operation Smile and Operation Breakthrough. Sponsors such as Links Concept, Timothy Oulton, and many others sponsored prizes and experiences for the fund-raising activity. An estimated amount of HKD300,000 was raised at the event last night.
 
Rob Derry, managing director of Ironmonger Events, the organiser of the Hedge Fund Fight Nite, says: “This event would not have come to its seventh year if not for the unwavering support of our sponsors and guests. Congratulations to the fighters who participated this year, and we will start to call for participants for next year’s fight very soon.”
