Investment advisory team launches global macro asset management firm
M L Ballew III and T Doug Dale Jr, principals of Security Ballew Wealth Management, have formed Consilium Capital to manage a global macro investment strategy for accredited investors.
The Consilium strategy centres on a high level assessment of the global economy, which serves as the basis of an adaptive investment process. This process was developed to capitalise on undervalued assets and take defensive positions in overvalued assets in accordance with the investment committee’s model.
“Our investment management approach emphasises the protection of investor capital as a goal of equal importance to strong total returns,” says Ballew. “We structured Consilium Capital to provide the flexibility required to manage assets more nimbly via one account in response to potentially fast changes in global market conditions.”
Consilium’s managers are able to express their outlook through an unlevered globally adaptive asset allocation. Consilium’s portfolio can range from a completely hedged equity and long fixed income portfolio to a 100 percent globally diversified equity portfolio. This mandate provides the latitude to make objective risk management decisions with maximum flexibility.
“Investors today should navigate global capital markets not just as trend followers, but also with a deep understanding of the profound influence that experimental fiscal and monetary policies are having on asset prices,” says Dale. “Recent volatility and return assumptions used by the investment community may eventually have as dubious a value as they did leading into 2008.”
Ballew and Dale share combined investment management experience in excess of 60 years, representing a diverse set of investment experiences that transcend many market cycles. Both serve in their parent company’s SEC registered investment advisory firm that manages assets for individuals, foundations, ERISA plans and institutions.
