On 3 October over 170 professionals from the Dutch financial alternatives community came together to show their support for the fundraising initiative of the Alternatives 4 Children foundation.

During the third charity gala the foundation raised more than EUR108,000 (net of costs) for the year to support five charity projects all around the world.

This support will enable Alternatives 4 Children to contribute to the running costs of a number of small projects like the Edelweiss school in a slum in Bangalore, India and a project by Tiny Miracles in Mumbai.

“I am impressed with the efforts of the highly committed group of members behind Alternatives 4 Children, for their efforts to try and raise the quality of children’s lives in developing countries. As well as for this wonderfully organised fund raising initiative, which will contribute to a next step in providing Alternatives for Children,” says Barbara Kos, senior sales manager, Pictet Asset Management Netherlands.

"It’s great to see the Alternative Investments Community joining forces and giving back to society. Social responsible investing is an integral part of Schroder’s investment philosophy. In light of this philosophy Schroders has its own charity fund, the Schroders Charity Fund. Alongside this charitable cause Schroders is proud to sponsor this great initiative which gives us another way to contribute the charities chosen by Alternatives 4 Children,” says Tânia Jerónimo Cabral, marketing manager Benelux at Schroders and member of the management team of the Alternatives 4 Children Foundation.

"In only its third year of running, we sold out two months in advance and had to create extra space to fit in a few extra people. There can be no better evidence that this is the industry charity and networking event of the year, which allows us to raise significant amount of money for children’s charities around the world. I applaud everyone that either helps us or participates in the event, without whom this event would not be possible," says Marc de Kloe, head of alternative investments at ABN Amro and co-founder of the Alternatives 4 Children Foundation.
