Sapient Global Markets and Energy Data Hub launch energy markets benchmarking service

Related Topics

Sapient Global Markets and The Energy Data Hub (EDH) have launched an energy markets benchmarking service available to EDH platform users.

This service delivers insight into global energy transactions in order to support risk management and trade strategy.

It allows users to measure company performance against the broader market and identify contrasts in market region or location, as well as transaction type or class. The service will also provide energy market participants with the first ever set of relative market metrics, including market size, volume rankings, volatility rankings, most liquid markets, and most liquid transactions data.

Sapient Global Markets advised on its development and will support EDH with the ongoing management of the service.

“With help from our partners, Sapient Global Markets, International Securities Exchange, and OTC Online, we are aggressively working to rapidly expand the information resources and functionality we offer to the EDH community,” says Robert Anderson, president and chief executive officer of Energy Data Hub. “The addition of benchmarking services is an important next step to delivering the energy market participants with never before seen transparency and intelligence on the markets within which they operate.”

Arun Karur, vice president at Sapient Global Markets, says: “EDH is much more than a price reporting utility promoting transparency in the energy markets. It is also a market analysis platform providing a rich set of data and analytics capabilities that users can leverage to drive their transaction decisions in the market. We look forward to our continued work with our partners on the EDH project to drive innovation and deeper insight into the energy markets.”

The EDH was designed to provide energy market participants with characterisations of all energy market activities regardless of the nature or type of company transacting. Currently, the platform handles voluntary, anonymous transactional, and market data in gas, power and oil for all types of trades from several of the largest energy merchants in the world. The EDH validates, standardises, and processes the data and delivers it to subscribers via online portals, offline feeds and specific reporting schemes as required by the participants.
