Private financial cloud provider Options has appointed former NYSE Euronext executive Richard Hughes as senior vice president, managing director for Europe.

Hughes, who was most recently responsible for global business development at NYSE Technologies, NYSE Euronext’s commercial technology division, will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s wider European division and associated efforts to drive new business growth, deliver service excellence and further develop Options’ regional relationships and broader European presence.

Hughes brings 25-plus years’ experience in building and developing high performing teams and selling complex business integration solutions to the financial services industry.

In addition to his most recent role at NYSE Technologies, Hughes led both the European and global sales teams, and held the position of general manager for Europe. Prior to NYSE Technologies, he oversaw international sales and client operations for NYFIX. NYSE Euronext acquired NYFIX in late 2009.

Previous to NYFIX, he spent 13 years at Omgeo, the joint venture between Thomson Reuters and the DTCC, where as managing director he oversaw the firm’s European business from 2000 to 2005.

Options CEO Nigel Kneafsey says: “There are few individuals in the industry with Richard’s proven track record of success and we’re delighted he has agreed to join the team here at Options. His appointment is indicative of an increased effort to support a more aggressive customer and new business focus in Europe and he will lead what will be a greater convergence of resources there. I look forward to working with Richard and welcome him to the team.”

Hughes says: “It’s very rare you encounter a company, be it within financial services or elsewhere, that chimes a compelling technology with a keen product-market fit in terms of the prevailing regulatory environment, broader macro industry trends and wider economic realties. The Options platform does exactly that and does so right across its various product offerings, both on the buy and sell side. These factors, coupled with an incredible team and unparalleled domain expertise, make Options a tremendously exciting opportunity.”
