Abacus Group, a provider of hosted IT solutions for hedge funds and private equity funds, has appointed Brian Lozada as director of information security.

Based in New York, Lozada will report to Viktor Tadijanovic, chief technology officer of Abacus Group.

Lozada brings over 14 years’ experience in information security and will be responsible for the development of current and new Abacus security solutions that help financial institutions to protect their enterprise systems, applications and data from cyber intrusions.

Most recently, he was the director of information security at Condé Nast, where he was responsible for overseeing the security and risk management for all digital and technology operations. He led the company’s integration of information security efforts in the development of next-generation digital products and services.

Prior to Condé Nast, Lozada held several senior management positions for technology and information security positions at Sony Music Entertainment, Vonage and Accenture.

“Brian’s expertise in information security is a huge asset for Abacus at a time in which cybersecurity has become a top focus of our clients,” says Chris Grandi, CEO at Abacus Group. “The introduction of mobile devices and new technology has fuelled the need for fund managers to effectively filter and detect malicious activities. Firms need to establish best practices for internal and external communications and reinforce procedures for better data protection.”

“Abacus is helping financial institutions to deploy and manage hosted IT solutions in an environment in which cyber-threats and regulations are posing new challenges for financial institutions,” says Lozada. “I’m delighted to join Abacus’ effort to bring leading technology to market while providing the top level of security around these solutions.”
