Liquidnet, the global institutional trading network, has further strengthened its fixed income team in Europe with the appointment of Jonathan Gray as Head of Fixed Income Sales.

Reporting directly to Mark Pumfrey (pictured), CEO Liquidnet Europe and Constantinos Antoniades, Global Head of Fixed Income, Gray will be responsible for expanding the number of buy side institutions on the platform adding additional liquidity and supporting growth through the introduction of new asset classes.

Liquidnet spearheaded its expansion into fixed income with the acquisition of Vega-Chi in March 2014 which has already built an efficient way to trade high yield and convertible bonds. This latest appointment heading up the fixed income team will help continue to drive Liquidnet's expansion in the UK and Continental Europe.

Pumfrey says: "Our fixed income platform differs from the other new entrants because we have combined a proven technology platform developed over the last three years with our network of more than 740 of the world’s leading buy side institutions. Jonathan will be key in helping us expand and grow this platform, creating the biggest pool of global institutional fixed income liquidity. We expect to be able to announce further hires in the fixed income space in the coming months."

Liquidnet also announced that Brian Kehoe has been appointed as Head of Trading Coverage. He will be responsible for the development of member trading relationships and managing and driving positive behaviour. Brian will report directly to Tony Booth, Head of EMEA Sales.

Booth says: “With upcoming regulatory changes focused on reducing institutions ability to find quality liquidity, it is more important than ever that we continue to source HFT free buy side liquidity for our members to implement their investment decisions. Brian will be leveraging his knowledge of sales trading to continue to drive positive member behaviour in Liquidnet and help members realize trading opportunities.

Gray joins Liquidnet from Morgan Stanley where he was a Managing Director responsible for convertible bond sales, trading risk and research. Prior to this Jonathan was a Director and one of three founding partners of  ECN start-up, MarketTouch Ltd, funded by GNI and Old Mutual PLC.  He began his career in financial markets when he joined Credit Suisse First Boston Limited as a trader on the firm's convertible bond desk.

B Kehoe rian joins Liquidnet from BAK Capital which he set up in September 2011. Prior to this, he was a Senior Equity Sales Trader at Credit Agricole-Cheuvreux where he managed some of the firm's most successful accounts and supervised buy-side dealers accessing liquidity pools and multiple execution venues.  Brian has also held senior equity sales trading positions at BNP Paribas; Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley.
