CBOE launches options app for iOS users

Related Topics

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) has launched the CBOE Mobile options application for iPhone and iPad users.

The app features a variety of basic to advanced educational courses specifically developed for mobile application by The Options Institute, CBOE's educational arm.

The tool includes 75 interactive lesson modules that encourage self-directed learning at a comfortable learning pace. Additional features include trading tools and market data (including detailed price quotes, charts and options chains), accessibility to CBOE's social media channels, and streaming video from CBOE TV. CBOE plans to regularly add more courses and lessons, including topics on CBOE volatility products, to the mobile app.

"We believe there is no better place to learn about products created by CBOE – including equity, index, LEAPS, FLEX options, and VIX options and futures – than at CBOE. A tripling of mobile and tablet traffic to CBOE.com over the last two years and increases in time spent on these devices encouraged us to significantly expand our efforts in mobile learning," says CBOE CEO Edward T Tilly. "CBOE has always been at the forefront of options education, and I am thrilled to see that proud tradition continue with the launch of our new App."

CBOE teamed with Atimi, a developer that has created highly-regarded apps for Bloomberg, ESPN, and The New York Times, among others.

CBOE Mobile is available free of charge through the iTunes App Store and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
