Law firm Howard Kennedy has strengthened its Financial Regulation and Investment Funds team with the appointment of financial regulation specialist Daniel Hirschfield.

Hirschfield, who joined the firm from Mayer Brown on 27 October as a Senior Associate, has considerable expertise helping regulated businesses across the banking, investment and insurance sectors navigate the UK’s financial services regulatory regime. He offers particular experience in relation to the regulation of funds and their managers under the EU Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive.

On joining Howard Kennedy, Hirschfield says: ”I see this as an excellent opportunity to work with a UK-centric firm that has a growing presence in the City mid-market and to develop my practice as the firm continues to build its own reputation for across-the-board financial regulatory advice.”

Howard Kennedy’s wider Financial Services Group is comprised of nine partners and, now, eight associates, and provides regulatory, employment and contentious advice to the full range of firms and individuals who are involved with the UK's financial services and investment funds industry.

Daniel Tunkel, Partner and Head of Financial Regulation at Howard Kennedy, says: “I am delighted with Daniel’s decision to join the firm, and in effect to rejoin me, as he and I worked together for 18 months in previous stages of our respective careers. I have a lot of respect for what Daniel has achieved in the intervening years and he will be a real asset to Howard Kennedy as we build the firm’s reputation for servicing clients in the financial services sector.”
