Advent Capital Management has appointed Matthew Dundon, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager to its alternative investment strategies team.

Dundon will support and collaborate with Advent’s current portfolio managers to identify unique investment ideas across corporate capital structures globally.

“We’re excited to welcome Matthew to Advent and look forward to the complementary skills he’ll bring as we continue to grow, diversify and opportunistically enhance our investment teams,” says Tracy Maitland, President and Chief Investment Officer of Advent. “The volatility in global markets is creating increased investment opportunities and we are adding investment talent to be able to vet more investment ideas with optimal risk/return profiles for our alternative strategies.”

Dundon’s extensive background includes liquid long and short secondary trades with a strong focus on event/catalyst driven investments, single-name capital structure arbitrage trades, and activist/process driven distressed investing. He has 17 years of applicable experience, most recently as a Portfolio Manager at Pine River Capital. There, he co-led a team of analysts focused on North American High Yield, distressed debt, reorganised equities, and mezzanine investing and was involved in distressed and special opportunities in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Prior to his portfolio management work he served as Head of Research at GMP Securities (formerly known as Miller Tabak Roberts) and also practiced leveraged finance law at Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Alston & Bird, LLP.

In addition to Matthew’s hire, Advent is also pleased to welcome Marc Aylett, Vice President, Portfolio Management and Brian Hertzog, Vice President, Research.

Aylett brings over 20 years of industry experience to Advent’s High Yield strategy team. He was previously a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst at Pomelo Capital, with a primary focus on high yield and distressed names across multiple sectors. He also has research experience in the auto, aerospace/defense, manufacturing, technology, and REIT sectors with Lehman Brothers.
Brian Hertzog has over 13 years of industry experience and will serve as an analyst for the Global Technology sector. Prior to joining Advent, he was a Portfolio Manager of the Putnam Global Technology Fund where he was responsible for technology research for the small- and mid-cap technology strategies. Brian previously worked as a Research Associate at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco.

“Expanding our team with such highly-qualified individuals such as Matthew, Marc and Brian enhances our ability to provide fundamentally-driven research ideas and investment strategy in today’s complex investment environment,” says Kris Haber, Chief Operating Officer of Advent. “The strong, relevant financial services and corporate experience of these individuals, coupled with the highly collaborative process between our portfolio managers and research team, will certainly benefit our clients.”
