Hong Kong-based hedge fund LIM Advisors has appointed Donald Ewer as head of Asian fixed income and credit.

Ewer’s wealth of experience in Asian fixed income and credit investing and other asset classes will enhance LIM’s ability to take advantage of opportunities across fixed income and credit in Asia as the markets shift.

Ewer, who has accumulated enormous experience in the key global financial centres of London, New York and Hong Kong, has deep knowledge across various asset classes and markets including convertibles, volatility trading, and equity long short.

He is an expert in Asian fixed income and credit markets, having spent the past six years covering credit and convertible bonds at BTG Investments’ Hong Kong office, and prior to that he covered Asian markets at Citadel Investment Group in Hong Kong and also Caxton Associates in New York. He has also worked at DE Capital Management (his own hedge fund), Forrest Investment Management and ABN AMRO investing or analysing a variety of asset classes and markets.

George W Long, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of LIM Advisors, says: “We are delighted that a leader in Asian fixed income and credit has joined our established team to augment our already strong focus on credit and high yield bonds. Donald’s expertise will enhance our ability to generate returns in fixed income and credit investing, a core component of LIM’s investment strategy.

“This is an important appointment that reflects changes and opportunities in the fixed income and credit market. Donald’s dynamic investment approach will give LIM the ability to take advantage of opportunities as yields and credit spreads begin to widen and there is more dispersion between credit and fixed securities.

“We expect there to be more volatility in both credit spreads and interest rates in the future, and therefore Donald’s dynamic approach to the markets and the ability to short as well as go long is appropriate.”

“Historically, LIM has generated returns through all stages of the credit cycle. Now, we see a shift in the opportunity set and Donald’s skills and experience will help us capitalise on this.”
