CBOE and C2 Options Exchange total trading volume up 16 per cent in June

Total trading volume in June for options contracts on Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and C2 Options Exchange (C2) and futures contracts on CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) was 99.2 million contracts.

This represents an increase of 16 per cent from May 2015 and a decrease of 1 per cent from June 2014.

Total options and futures average daily volume (ADV) at CBOE Holdings for June was 4.5 million contracts, an increase of 6 per cent from May 2015 and a decrease of 5 per cent from June 2014.  

CBOE's ADV for the month was 4.0 million contracts, up 6 per cent from May 2015 and down 7 per cent from June 2014. Exchange-wide trading volume totalled 87.7 million contracts, an increase of 16 per cent from the previous month and a decrease of 3 per cent from a year ago.

June ADV in index options rose 14 per cent, exchange-traded product (ETP) options increased 12 per cent, and equity options decreased 7 per cent from May 2015.   

CBOE's market share of total U.S. options industry volume was 26.2 per cent in June, an increase of 1.4 percentage points from May 2015 and a decrease of 1.9 per entage points from June 2014.
