AltX has appointed Roy Singh (pictured) as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective immediately.

“Roy’s extensive experience in data science, distributed systems, natural language processing and machine learning will catapult our product capabilities and offerings to new heights,” says Sam Hocking, Founder and CEO of AltX. “Roy’s deep technical knowledge, coupled with his understanding of quantitative finance, is precisely the expertise that AltX needs to build on its position as the next-generation intelligence platform for the alternative investment market.”

Hocking has a proven track record in data science, distributed systems, natural language processing, machine learning and quantitative finance. Prior to joining AltX, Roy served as the CTO of Guavus, Inc, a leading global telecoms data analytics platform and solutions provider. He spent 20 years prior to that in leadership roles at other prominent enterprise technology and data analytics companies, including working for Microsoft’s Enterprise Architecture team and delivering natural language processing solutions for government counterterrorism organisations, and recommender systems for on-line retailers. Roy also has extensive experience working in the financial technology industry, preceded by eight years at The Boston Consulting Group. Roy holds an MBA from INSEAD and a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with Sam as well as the other Wall Street veterans and technology experts on the AltX team to continue building a best-in-class alternatives intelligence product,” says Singh. “I look forward to using my expertise in data science and natural language processing to help investors make smarter investment decisions.”

Marco Iansiti, an AltX advisor and board member, as well as Head of Harvard Business School’s Technology Management Group, adds: “Roy’s background and expertise is quite unique in that it spans across data science, technology and the financial markets. He will catalyse the company’s ability to drive innovation and transformation in alternative investments.”

Singh replaces Christian McCarrick who joined the company in 2014.
