TeamCo Advisers, a privately owned investment advisory firm that manages portfolios of select hedge funds and other opportunistic alternative assets, has appointed John Shearman (pictured) as Managing Director.

Shearman will assist in crafting new investment solutions for clients and enhancing the firm’s relationships with clients, managers, and consultants.

Shearman joins TeamCo from his own private wealth advisory firm, IV Lions, which specialised in liquid alternative investments. Previously, Shearman was a partner at Albourne Partners, one of the world’s premier alternative investment advisory firms, where he advised intuitional investors on hedge funds and other alternative investments. Prior to that, he served as a senior analyst/developer at Goldman Sachs and as a management consultant in the financial services sector at PricewaterhouseCoopers, both in London. Shearman was named Hedge Fund Consultant of the Year by Institutional Investor at the 10th Annual Hedge Fund Industry Awards in 2012. He has been nominated twice for the award. In 2014, Shearman published the book, “Liquid Alts, A Guide for Financial Advisors and Advanced Investors.” He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.

David Perry, TeamCo’s Founder and Senior Managing Director, says: “We are really pleased to add a guy like John to our team. We have known him for many years and are familiar with his outstanding reputation as an advisor and thought-leader. We think he will complement us in several tangible ways and will be a great cultural fit as well.”

Shearman says: “The TeamCo philosophy, approach, and process have always been distinctive. What has impressed me about the firm is how they have continued to evolve what they do without compromising on core principles. I feel fortunate to join the firm as it is well situated for great success in a demanding space. I am keen to contribute and I am looking forward to helping TeamCo meet its goals.”
