The Countess of Wessex (pictured) is to serve as Global Ambassador of 100 Women in Hedge Funds (100WHF) Next Generation initiatives.

Launched in January 2015, the goal of 100WHF’s most recent initiative is to inspire, mentor and provide access and peer network support to young women looking to start their careers in finance and investments.

The Countess of Wessex will attend several events in New York to launch her new role, including the 100WHF 500th education event on 10 November, a Next Gen breakfast discussion on November 11th with young women currently in the industry, and a New York Gala fundraiser on 11 November, where money will be raised for 100WHF Foundation’s Next Generation initiatives.

Over the course of the next three years, The Countess of Wessex will represent 100WHF’s Next Generation initiatives as she travels to several of 100WHF’s locations around the world. As Global Ambassador, she will serve as an advocate for increased diversity in the financial services industry, and for raising the industry’s visibility and appeal as young women consider career paths. Additionally, she will participate in conversations in which she can share 100WHF’s global knowledge of best practices around cultivating interest and engagement from the next generation of women entering the industry.

“100 Women in Hedge Funds is pleased to welcome HRH The Countess of Wessex as Global Ambassador of our Next Generation initiatives. The Countess of Wessex is a strong advocate for professional women globally, and over the past two years we have benefited greatly from being a member of her Duke of Edinburgh Award Women’s Network Forum. Through her leadership, we hope to facilitate a global discussion amongst our Next Gen members, as well as garner additional support from our investment industry partners so that we can meet our goal of inspiring more young women to enter and succeed in the industry,” says Mimi Drake, 100WHF Global Board Chair and President of Permit Capital Advisors, LLC.
