Man GLG, the discretionary investment management business of Man Group, has appointed five senior investment professionals, completing the firm’s recently established emerging markets debt team.

The team will be based in New York and London, working under Man GLG’s head of emerging markets debt strategies Guillermo Ossés, who joined the firm in January 2016.

The emerging markets debt team manages three distinct strategies providing access across the compelling and complex emerging markets universe: one focused on hard currency, one on local currency and an opportunistic strategy investing across the entire emerging markets debt domain.

Phil Yuhn joins Man GLG as a portfolio manager based in New York. Yuhn was previously a portfolio manager at American Century Investments, and prior to that worked alongside Ossés as a senior portfolio manager at HSBC Global Asset Management.

Jose Wynne joins as a portfolio manager based in New York. Wynne joins from Barclays where he was managing director, head of FX research. Prior to this he worked within the North America FX strategy team as well as spending time as a senior emerging markets strategist.

Lisa Chua also joins as a portfolio manager based in New York. Chua previously worked alongside Ossés as part of the emerging markets debt team at HSBC Global Asset Management in the US, where she was a senior vice president and portfolio manager responsible for external markets.

Ehsan Bashi joins as a portfolio engineer based in New York. Bashi was previously a manager at KPMG, advising clients on risk management related matters. He joined KPMG from Societe Generale where he worked as a non-agency RMBS trader, prior to which he was a portfolio management associate in the emerging markets team at PIMCO.

Maria do Carmo Cal joins as a product specialist, based in London. She was previously a managing director and head of capital markets at Banco Itaú BBA International, leading the development of the bank’s debt syndicate offering. Prior to that, do Carmo Cal led the bank’s fixed income division including sales, trading, loan syndication and credit research.

Teun Johnston, co-CEO of Man GLG, says: “We are delighted to welcome Phil, Jose, Lisa, Ehsan and Maria to Man GLG, working alongside Guillermo Ossés. Together they bring a vast amount of experience and expertise to Man GLG’s emerging markets debt team and demonstrate the commitment that we have made as a firm to developing an outstanding proposition for clients in this asset class.”

Ossés says: “I believe that we have put together a first-class emerging markets debt team at Man GLG and I am excited about what we can achieve in this market for our clients. Man GLG provides the institutional framework and entrepreneurial environment in which this group of professionals will thrive.”
