The Managed Funds Association (MFA) has appointed its board of directors for 2016-17, which it says is diverse in firm size and geographic make-up and comprised of fund managers, public and private pension funds, banks and accounting firms.

It will provide governance oversight to MFA and help guide the association’s advocacy, education and communications efforts.

MFA’s returning officers are: board chair David C Haley, president, HBK Capital Management; vice chair Michael S Harris, president, Campbell & Company; and secretary Bruce S Darringer, member and chief operating officer, King Street Capital Management.

MFA board members elected Natalie Deak Jaros, partner, Ernst & Young, to serve as treasurer.

“Institutional investors continue to rely on the alternative investment industry to help diversify portfolios, manage risks and deliver reliable returns over time,” Haley says. “This partnership highlights the important role MFA has to play in the US and internationally as a constructive advocate for fair and efficient capital markets that benefit all investors.”

MFA president and CEO Richard H Baker says: “With the thoughtful guidance of our members, MFA has cemented its reputation over the last 25 years as the leading global voice for the alternative investment industry. We look forward to building on this progress over the next quarter century and continuing our work with policymakers and industry experts to help ensure the implementation of effective rules and regulations governing global capital markets.”

“On behalf of the board and entire MFA team, we remain grateful for the expertise and active involvement of our diverse membership,” Baker and Haley add.
