Misys November Webinar 8 November – Diversify or die: Unlock the true potential of multi-asset investing

Asset managers are under pressure to deliver performance and find new sources of alpha in today’s low growth low yield environment. As such, having the right systems in place to support greater asset class diversification that allow managers to pivot their investment strategies, and extend the instrument coverage of those strategies, is a must-have.

As technology advancements improve, it is helping fund managers to run combinations of onshore and offshore strategies, segregated accounts, across the liquidity spectrum with the confidence of having real-time IBOR, liquidity management tools, multi-asset risk and pricing models. Not to mention sophisticated analytics needed to run portfolios that combine traditional securities (government bonds and equities) with high-yield bonds (eg EM debt), corporate bonds, convertibles, IRS, index and single name CDS, loans, private equity, distressed debt and commodities.

Increasingly, traditional and alternative fund managers are converging in such a way that the concept of running single asset portfolios is fast diminishing. However, in order to succeed and have the confidence to trade multi-asset portfolios with differing liquidity and risk profiles, fund managers are re-assessing the technology capabilities of their operating models. Optimising the fund strategy’s risk-adjusted returns with sophisticated hedging techniques requires real-time automated workflows processes, not Excel spreadsheets. In turn, this can help drive trading insights that might previously not have been possible.

The Misys Webinar – Diversify or die: Unlock the true potential of multi-asset investing – on 8 November will explore these issues with a select panel of fund managers. Just how hard is it to extend into new asset classes? What are the main operational challenges? What are the typical techniques used to hedge and reduce risk? And more importantly, what are the benefits?
