CB Richard Ellis Investors names Sabina Kalyan as head of European strategy
Based in London, Kalyan will be responsible for developing the firm's house views on the outlook for the European economy, financial markets and national property markets, harnessing the market information provided by the CB Richard Ellis group and the CB Richard Ellis Investors fund managers.
The firm aims to create a research platform to support European investments across its full range of products, from real estate securities to fund of funds and direct core, value-added and opportunistic strategies.
Kalyan was previously chief economist at Investment Property Databank, where she was responsible for the UK and European forecasting service and analysing the impact of economic developments on global property markets. Earlier she developed the UK residential and commercial property market analysis and forecasting service at Capital Economics.
Her appointment marks a further strengthening of the European research capability at CB Richard Ellis Investors. Isabelle Assens, who joined in the Paris office in January, will work closely with Kalyan to develop the firm's market views on key metropolitan areas across continental Europe and emerging Central and Eastern European markets.
'We are delighted to welcome Sabina to CB Richard Ellis Investors,' says the firm's chief operating officer Fiona Spencer-Jones. 'She brings a wealth of experience to this new role and will be instrumental in developing research and analytical tools, which will be used by our fund managers across Europe.'
CB Richard Ellis Investors is a global real estate investment manager with a total of some USD38bn in assets under management at the end of last year. The firm sponsors investment programmes across the risk/return spectrum for investors worldwide and last year made USD11.7bn of acquisitions in North America, Europe and Asia and completed USD4.8bn in disposals. It is an independently operated affiliate of CB Richard Ellis Group, a real estate services company with more than 29,000 employees in some 50 countries worldwide.
