Vincent Van Dessel appointed chairman of Euronext Brussels

NYSE Euronext has appointed Vincent Van Dessel as chairman of the board of directors of Euronext Brussels and as a member of the managing board of Euronext N.V. 

NYSE Euronext has appointed Vincent Van Dessel as chairman of the board of directors of Euronext Brussels and as a member of the managing board of Euronext N.V. 

He will also be appointed as a member of the management committee of NYSE Euronext.

The appointments are subject to the non-objection or approval of the Belgian regulator CBFA, Euronext N.V.’s College of Regulators and the Dutch Minister of Finance.

Jean-François Théodore, deputy chief executive officer, NYSE Euronext says: ‘We are very pleased with the promotion of Vincent and we wish him great success in his new function. His thorough knowledge of our business and of the Belgian market will be valuable to our organisation.’

Van Dessel says: ‘It is a great honour to succeed Bruno Colmant in this position. I look forward to further developing the interaction between our group and the Belgian financial community.’

Van Dessel, a Belgian citizen, started his career as a stockbroker in 1984. He joined the Brussels Stock Exchange in April 1992 as director markets and listing. He also chaired the Market Authority of Euronext Brussels from 2000 to 2003. Since 2003, he was appointed general manager of Euronext Brussels. In addition, he is a lecturer at several universities: Solvay Business School, ICHEC, FUCAM and Sorbonne University Paris.
