• Understand private equity characteristics as an asset class and what to look at when planning to invest this sector
• Understand the principles of leverage and how the internal rate of return (IRR) is calculated
• Be able to assess when it's the best to invest and build a simple leverage transaction model
• Be aware of the key drivers of  activity and debt structures in the current market
• Understand the concepts of capital commitments and the J curve approach to private equity investment
