Maggie’s is a national charity which empowers people to live with, through, and beyond cancer from a network of unique cancer caring centres designed by leading architects such as Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and Richard Rogers. The charity was conceived by Maggie Keswick Jencks who identified the need for a healing space where people affected by cancer could be empowered to help themselves with the many non-medical challenges associated with the disease. Maggie lost her battle with cancer in 1995 but her vision lives on in ten Maggie’s centres now open throughout the UK.
Maggie’s London, in the grounds of Charing Cross Hospital was the first purpose-built Maggie’s Centre in England. It has seen more than 31,000 visitors since opening its doors in April 2008. With your help we hope to build a Maggie’s centre at every major cancer hospital in the UK.
