Capital Support awarded Cyber Essentials Plus Certification

Related Topics

Capital Support has been awarded with the Cyber Essentials Plus certificate, which is presented to organisations that have displayed a particularly high level of dedication towards maintaining a high standard of cybersecurity.

The Cyber Essentials Plus certificate is a government-backed scheme, first brought in as part of the UK National Cyber Security Strategy to combat cyber-crime, particularly in the business environment. With cyber-crime due to be introduced in the national crime statistics for the first time later this year, experts predict that the figures will double, reflecting a significant shift in recent years from street crime to online crime. The overall aim of the scheme is to instill a basic standard that organisations can follow to decrease their vulnerability to cyber-crime. The ‘Plus’ variation of the certificate is harder to obtain than its counterpart, with a more detailed assessment of the company taking place to ensure that they meet the stricter requirements.

The process for obtaining the Cyber Essentials Plus certificate involves both an internal and external assessment of the organisation under a number of different categories. The organisation must display a high standard of security in each. The external assessment is carried out by security professionals who attend each site to properly audit them.

Over the last 13 years Capital Support has constantly developed through continued investment in our infrastructure, service capabilities and staff. Some of the more recent changes include the development of our Managed Security services suite which utilises sophisticated permissioning, filtering, analysing and reporting to improve firms’ cybersecurity capabilities.

Capital Support further displayed evidence of our determination to combat cyber-crime with the appointment of CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) Simon Rozario, along with the attainment of our ISO 27001:2013 accreditation.

Firms in the finance sector are amongst the most potentially lucrative targets for cybercriminals. Cybercriminals utilise ever more complex techniques in order to exploit security weaknesses, and traditional security efforts over time have become less effective at repelling them. Capital Support continue to stay ahead of the cyber-crime curve, and have been recognised for this repeatedly throughout the industry.
