Alternative asset manager Aquila Capital has further refined its Risk Parity strategy with the aim of increasing the expected returns from already highly valued asset classes and to provide better protection from market corrections. Northern Trust has appointed Belinda Burgess as head of Channel Islands, replacing Paul Cutts who assumes the newly created role of head of Alternative Investment Services for Northern Trust Global Fund Services across Europe, Middle East Africa (EMEA). The ECB decided to take additional easing steps on December 3rd, but as we feared the measures did not meet market expectations. As a result, equity and bond markets sold off in Europe, with global contagion effects on risk assets. The EURUSD bounced back while commodities rose as a result of a falling USD. Euronext is to contest today's claim and fine by the Autorité des Marchés Financier (AMF), the French regulator, concerning events surrounding the rise of high frequency trading in 2009. Euronext has been fined EUR5 million by AMF, the French market regulator, a penalty is has described as ‘totally disproportionate and completely anachronistic’. Hedge funds extended the prior month’s gains in November, driven by strong Macro & CTA performance, according to data released today by HFR.  The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index® gained +0.5 per cent for the month (Index Value = 12,460), paring 3Q declines and lifting the Index to a YTD gain of +0.3 per cent for 2015. Recent performance gains have increased total hedge fund capital to $2.92 trillion through November, narrowly below the mid-year 2015 record of $2.93 trillion.
