Harcourt Investment Consulting has appointed Dr. Georg Wessling as chief investment officer.

Wessling (pictured) joined Harcourt in 2005, was promoted to head of portfolio management in January 2006 and became a member of the investment committee in 2008. He has a broad investment expertise as well as extensive experience in the hedge fund industry. 

Wessling will replace Christophe Grünig, who aims to enhance Harcourt’s business franchise in Asia. In this new function he will explore the investment opportunities in Asia and make new investments accessible to Harcourt clients. rünig remains a member of the board of directors and a member of the investment committee of Harcourt.

Stephan Fritz, chief executive of Harcourt Investment Consulting, says: ‘Georg is closely familiar with Harcourt and our portfolios. In the past four years, Georg has made significant contributions to all aspects of the firm’s investment activities and we are certain that he will excel in his new role.’

Prior to Harcourt, Wessling worked as an investment consultant for Ecofin, a Zurich-based pension fund consultant, from 1995 to 2004. At Ecofin he was responsible for alternative asset classes, such as hedge funds, private equity and real estate and advised some of Ecofin’s largest clients.
