Kohlberg Kravis Roberts has appointed Michael B. DeNoma as a senior adviser.
DeNoma (pictured) is the former chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank's global consumer bank where he was also a group executive director and head of strategy for the overall bank.
Henry R. Kravis and George Roberts, co-founders of KKR, said: 'We are very fortunate to have Michael DeNoma join the firm as a senior adviser. Michael is a proven leader and a successful manager, investor and entrepreneur. He has a creative mindset and is an exceptional strategic thinker. We believe his experience and expertise in Asian, Middle Eastern and European markets will be particularly valuable to KKR going forward as we continue to expand our business in those regions.'
'KKR is one of the most accomplished alternative asset management firms in the world, and it is a privilege to be part of this dynamic organisation. I look forward to the opportunity of working with KKR's talented management team and building on the firm's successes as it expands to and develops new markets,' says DeNoma.
DeNoma joined Standard Chartered Bank's global consumer bank as head of banking in 1999, and was appointed chief executive in 2000, serving in that capacity until 2008. He grew revenues by USD4bn over the course of seven years, and nearly tripled the company's customer base from five million to 14 million.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, DeNoma personally established Asia Foods in 1993, grew the business and expanded its operations across China while serving as the company's chief executive and board chairman until its sale in 1999.
DeNoma also currently serves in an advisory role to McKinsey's technology board and in June 2009 was appointed to serve as chairman of Chinatrust Commercial Bank, a subsidiary of Chinatrust Financial Holding Company.
