Over 160 professionals from the Dutch financial alternatives community who attended a Gala dinner on 3 October have raised more than EUR100,000 for the Alternatives 4 Children foundation.
The money raised will enable the organisation to fulfil its prime objective of providing an alternative for children in need. The projects the foundation has chosen to support are:
• The Edelweiss school in Bangalore, India (www.theAlphaBetClub.org)
• The Scarab school in Mali
• Tiny Miracles in India (www.tinymiracles.com)
• Day For Change in The Netherlands (www.dayforchange.nl)
• Kamitei in Tanzania (www.kamitei.com)
The audience was entertained by a comedy show from Boom Chicago, jazz music by Jo’s Kitchen and a special guest appearance by Dutch TV soap star Gigi Ravelli, who gave out the auction and raffle prizes.
“After concluding our second gala dinner I think we can say two things: first, we have successfully built a franchise that is the event of the year to attend in the Netherlands for the alternative investment community and secondly we can show that the same community is able to give back to society in a positive way. I am so much looking forward to next year’s event," says Marc de Kloe, head of alternative investments at ABN Amro and co-founder of the Alternatives 4 Children Foundation.
