Israel A Englander’s Managed Accounts and Prime Services (MA&PS) division, a new platform providing customised solutions to small to mid-sized hedge funds, has appointed Wall Street veteran Brett Langbert as managing director for the firm, where he will be responsible for directing sales and distribution.

Prior to joining MA&PS, Langbert (pictured) was president and chief operating officer of HedgeCo Networks and president of HedgeCo Securities. At HedgeCo Networks, he was responsible for HedgeCo.Net, the most trafficked internet database for hedge fund content and performance. At HedgeCo Securities, Langbert managed a broker dealer that performed prime broker services, capital introduction and third-party marketing.

Before HedgeCo, Langbert had a long career on Wall Street, which included senior-level positions at global investment banking firms. Prior to joining HedgeCo, Langbert worked at UBS, where he served as managing director and head of prime brokerage sales for the Americas region. He was responsible for origination and distribution of a platform that oversaw prime brokerage of 750 institutional accounts across the US, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and South America.

Earlier, Langbert was a managing director at Morgan Stanley, where he co-managed sales trading for the Americas region and was responsible for the firm’s merger arbitrage and capital structure arbitrage. Also during his tenure at the firm, he spearheaded a joint venture for cross-selling between equities and credit investors and segmented the firm’s institutional distribution business.

He began his Wall Street career at Goldman Sachs, where he was a cash sales trader and later managed parts of the firm’s convertible arbitrage business and ultimately ran a volatility desk.

Stephen Tobias, president and chief executive of Israel A Englander, says: "We are extremely pleased that someone of Brett’s calibre shares our vision and has joined the MA&PS team. The breadth of his experience and expertise in the institutional investment community will provide an excellent fit to MA&PS’ expanding presence in the industry."

Langbert says: "I am delighted about the opportunity to work with IA Englander and specifically the MA&PS platform. This business is a dynamic, cost effective, streamlined and innovative solutions provider for both investors and hedge funds that doesn’t exist in the market place."
