GoldenTree Asset Management, an investment firm that manages alternative and traditional asset strategies for institutional and high net worth investors, has appointed emerging markets credit specialist Said Saffari as a partner and portfolio manager.

Prior to joining GoldenTree, Saffari was a senior portfolio manager at ICE Canyon, with primary responsibility for the financials, industrials, commodities, and oil and gas sectors.

“Said’s career-long emerging markets investor experience brings additional capabilities to our firm,” says Steve Tananbaum, GoldenTree’s managing partner and chief investment officer. “He’s highly regarded in the marketplace and has a proven track record of success. With Said joining the investment team, our ability to identify relative value in emerging market credit will continue to grow. We’re confident that the entire GoldenTree franchise will benefit from his contributions.”

Prior to joining ICE Canyon in early 2007, Saffari was a portfolio advisor at Bank of America Investment Services from 2005 to 2006. From 1998 to 2005, he was head of European credit research at Credit Suisse in London, where he was responsible for European and emerging markets credit research.

Saffari began his career at UBS Warburg where he covered Eastern European banks and corporates.
