Robert Aspinall and Martin O’Regan join Intertrust

Intertrust has expanded its fiduciary team with Rob Aspinall joining as director, fiduciary services in the Cayman Islands and Martin O’Regan joining as director, fiduciary services in Singapore.

 
Both individuals will be primarily focused on the provision of independent directors to hedge fund and other collective investment vehicles.
 
Aspinall (pictured) joins Intertrust from Deloitte in the Cayman Islands, where he has spent eight of the last eleven years specialising in advising the investment funds industry.  After gaining experience in Deloitte’s audit and financial advisory departments, followed by a two year stint with Harmonic Fund Services, a boutique service provider to the alternative investment industry, Aspinall returned to Deloitte in 2009 and was later appointed a director.  In this role, Aspinall led the firm’s hedge fund consulting practice, specialising in complex insolvency, restructuring, consulting, due diligence and forensic accounting for alternative investment vehicles. 
 
Whilst at Deloitte Aspinall acted as a liquidator (fiduciary) on numerous Cayman-registered funds, many of which were contentious in nature, and he has worked closely with various international regulatory authorities including the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Financial Conduct Authority.
 
O’Regan is tasked with broadening Intertrust’s fiduciary services reach throughout Asia. O’Regan brings to this position eighteen years of experience in all aspects of audit, fiduciary, fund administration and banking services to hedge funds, fund of funds and other alternative investment vehicles, including private equity, infrastructure, property and real estate, discretionary and private funds.
 
Prior to joining Intertrust, O’Regan was based in Hong Kong and Singapore where he was a director and headed the alternative funds services business in Asia for Deutsche Bank. Previously, O’Regan held high-level positions at Citi Fund Services in Bermuda, Apex Fund Services in Dubai and UBS Fund Services in both the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong. He began his career with BDO Simpson Xavier Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
