Neptune Investment Management has appointed James Cripps, who recently retired as a partner in Slaughter and May, to its board of directors.

At Slaughter and May, where he was a partner for over 24 years, Cripps specialised in asset management, advising on the establishment, structuring, purchase and sale of asset management businesses, the launch, regulation and governance of investment, hedge and mutual funds and other types of collective investment vehicles as well as issues concerning investment products, regulation and safe custody.

Robin Geffen, fund manager and chief executive of Neptune, says: "We are delighted that James has agreed to join the Neptune Board as our fifth non-executive director. I have known him for over 15 years, during which time he has provided a wide range of legal and commercial advice throughout the life of Neptune, including its formation. I believe that the knowledge and experience he has gained during his impressive career will be complementary to the skills of the existing directors and continue to be invaluable to Neptune and its clients. His appointment provides another exciting development for our company as it enters its next phase of growth.”
