Forum Securities has appointed Sophia Banar as managing director and strategic risk and portfolio manager based in the firm’s Old Greenwich, Connecticut office.

Banar brings over 15 years of real estate investing and consulting experience to Forum.

Before joining Forum Securities, Banar was a portfolio manager with The Tuckerman Group, a boutique real estate focused affiliate of State Street Global Advisors.

In her new role Banar will cover US companies and will add her voice to Forum Securities’ global portfolio management team. Forum expects that her investment contributions will initially focus on risk management and a top-down perspective.

In addition to her investment role, Banar will concentrate on strengthening the firm’s operations platform.

Dan Pine, global head of Forum Securities, says: “I am pleased that we were able to attract someone of Sophia's calibre and experience to join us at this critical juncture.  We have recently launched our first investment product that incorporates dynamic hedging both investment markets and currencies.  We believe that this product, and others to follow, will allow us to achieve our growth targets and will significantly differentiate us from other managers whose offerings tend to track benchmarks in both up and down markets.  We expect Sophia will be a major contributor to the success of both our existing and future products.”
