FNEX, the financial marketplace for alternative investments, has appointed Carissa Newton as the company’s chief marketing officer.

Newton reports directly to FNEX CEO Todd Ryden and leads all strategic marketing efforts at FNEX beginning with the company’s national marketing and advertising campaign.

FNEX launched FNEX.com, an online marketplace for alternative investments including direct placements in private companies, hedge funds and managed futures accounts, in September 2013. The web-based platform provides investment advisors, family offices, institutions, and accredited investors access to investment opportunities offered by investment banks and funds across the US.

“Carissa’s deep understanding of financial services and technology makes her uniquely qualified to head up marketing for FNEX,” says Ryden. “As our marketplace continues to attract participants in its first year, it is critical for us to build brand awareness throughout the investment community. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Carissa to the team.”

Newton has over 20 years of marketing experience in a variety of industries including financial services, insurance and technology. She joins FNEX from Oak Street Funding where she was chief marketing officer, overseeing marketing and new business development for the firm. Newton served in a number of marketing leadership positions at Delivra, Vontoo, Hufford Financial Partners and American United Life.

Newton says: “I am eager to bring what I’ve learned throughout my career to bear at FNEX.  There is something particularly exciting about being part of an early stage company and I am confident that our national ad push will be well received as we work to help drive broader awareness of this innovative new marketplace.”
