New Jersey-based Nationwide Planning Associates (NPA) has created an alternative investment platform aimed at high net worth and institutional investors.

NPA’s registered representatives can now offer these alternative investment products to other broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, family offices and institutions, as well as to high net worth clients.

Nationwide Planning Associates Inc has a heavy concentration in the Northeast while maintaining its main operations in Montvale, New Jersey. NPA’s service and products can be offered on a wholesale, institutional, and retail basis. And while the firm offers direct participation with private placement investments for investors, it also has a full retail and institutional execution platform.

With the addition of NPA’s newest COO, David M. Konits, who has an accomplished background in alternative investments, NPA has carefully selected a variety of products that are believed to be the best technology available. Konits, who is primarily responsible for all research, operations, and investment aspects of alternative investments for NPA, will be the designated Director and Principal of the company’s Alternative Investment Platform.

Previously, Konits was the Managing Principal of SUMA Securities LLC, an Atlanta based NASD member broker/dealer that was also an NFA member commodity-trading advisor offering alternative investment products and strategies for qualified institutional and high net worth accredited investors.

Before SUMA Securities formed, Konits was originally hired to manage Paradigm securities, which was owned by NY based Paradigm Fund of Hedge Funds, and entailed working with institutions, broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, banks, and insurance companies on investment strategies involving funds of hedge funds both domestic and offshore. He was also responsible for the full operational management of Paradigm’s broker/dealer, which included interviewing, training, and managing registered representatives on the sales of private placements.

Konits performed due-diligence on and setting up selling agreements for various alternative investment funds including fund of funds, hedge funds, managed futures, REIT’s, limited partnerships, and private placements.

Alternative investment products that NPA is planning to offer include fund of funds, single strategy hedge funds, managed futures programs, REITS, 1031 Exchanges, Limited Partnerships, and insurance including private placement variable.
