KCS Fund Strategies Inc has expanded its New York-based hedge fund analysis team with the appointment of Sheryl Wirch Mejia.

Mejia, who has worked in the hedge fund arena since 1997, specialises in developing a deep understanding of the underlying strategies and performance metrics specific to each fund and strategy and has developed her expertise in hedge fund analysis over her career in the financial services industry. KCS believes her appointment will strengthen the firm’s research capabilities and processes.

Mejia is to join the KCS investment committee and will also be part of the due diligence team based in New York where she will conduct onsite manager reviews for prospective and current hedge funds in the portfolio.

Prior to joining KCS Fund Strategies Inc, Mejia was a director at Deutsche Bank’s private wealth management group in New York, where she utilized proprietary risk models to analyze concentrated stock holdings within portfolios and advised clients on traditional and alternative asset classes. Additionally, she was an analyst on Deutsche Asset Management’s global equity team where she analysed individual stocks across G-7 countries.

Mejia earned her Chartered Accountant designation in 1994 while working at KPMG in Toronto, Ontario. She has also holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.Com (Hons.) in finance and accounting from Queen’s University.

Background notes: KCS is an alternative investment management boutique serving individual accredited investors and institutions in Canada and offshore.

KCS specializes in the identification, analysis and selection of hedge fund managers with sustainable competitive advantages and expertise in producing superior risk-adjusted returns using one or more absolute return investment strategies.
