Ex-UBS fund manager Michelle Michel has launched a consultancy firm providing third-party marketing, product management and merger and acquisition services.
Swiss-based Agora’s target clients will be US and European funds and asset managers seeking to expand into Swiss and European markets, but the firm also conducts specialized fund searches for Swiss-based manager selection teams of family offices, private banks and hedge fund investment houses. Agora also plans to collaborate with several partner firms to further develop international client relationships for its clients, focusing on the Swiss market while its partner companies extend coverage to other European countries, including, Austria, Spain, Germany and France.
Agora’s first client is Eight Winds Capital Management LLC and the firm will be supporting founder Jim Hansel – the award winning former fund manager of the UBS (Lux) Equity Fund – Technology – in developing business for the company within Switzerland.
Agora managing director Michel (41) was with UBS Global Asset Management previously. During her UBS career, she was an equity fund manager and team leader of fund managers, responsible for over USD 25 billion in retail equity funds, located in Zurich. Michel developed investment expertise while personally managing over USD 4 billion in the UBS USA and UBS Canada funds and she has been a product manager, responsible for Europe-wide product management activities for USD 10 billion in equity funds, including sector, Asian and emerging markets funds for UBS Global Asset Management.
