Cayman-based Rainmaker Partners Limited is to begin providing investment management services.
The firm will focus on bottom-up, company-visit driven investment, and will target absolute return independent of market conditions through a focus on large-cap stocks and highly liquid markets.
The investment management team is comprised of six people, led by Virgil Adams in Tokyo, who teamed up with Rainmaker Partners after helping to start up Hachibushu Capital where he was responsible for fundamental long/short in a multi-strategy team. Prior to starting Hachibushu, Adams helped manage hedge funds at Gartmore Japan, and worked for six years as an analyst and fund manager at Fidelity Japan. He is joined by a team of three senior partners, all with prior hedge fund management experience.
