Edmond de Rothschild Financial Services has hired Jacques Bocquet and Joël Pinto to set up and develop a direct alternative asset management unit.

The new unit will be within the de Rothschild’s dedicated subsidiary RFS Gestion.
 
Bocquet, 45, studied at Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, before joining PARIBAS in 1982. In 1986 he joined bankers Duménil Leblé before moving to Banque CPR in 1992 as head of proprietary trading and arbitrage. In 2000 Bocquet helped set up EQUALT, an alternative asset management subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole Indosuez group, of which he was later appointed chairman.

Pinto, 37, a graduate from the University of Paris IX-Dauphine, began his career with brokers Cholet-Dupont. In 1995 he joined Banque CPR, specializing in proprietary trading of equity derivatives, before moving to EQUALT in 2000, where he was in charge of creating and managing a derivatives-based hedge fund.

 In 2003, Pinot and Bocquet partnered with Neuflize Global Assets, to set up the direct alternative asset management company Neuflize Arbitrage. Pinot was appointed chief executive officer and Bocquet chairman.
