MT Thaler Investment Management (Cayman) Ltd has hired Peter McGregor for the position of chief operating officer (COO) effective 1 December 2005.


MT Thaler, with offices in London and Prague, is a fund manager focused on the region of Emerging Europe. Michael Sonenshine, CEO of MT Thaler said: “We believe Peter’s outstanding operational know-how in Central Europe together with his understanding of the needs of private investors will help us to build a strong and stable platform on which to grow our business.” 


Based in Prague, McGregor will have responsibility for all of the operational aspects of MT Thaler for both the London and Prague offices.


McGregor has more than 20 years experience in managing both bank and securities operations.  He spent the last nine years for ING at the general management and operational management level on various assignments in the region of Central Europe as well as Monaco and the Netherlands.


McGregor previously worked for ABN Amro, Banque Paribas, and First National Bank of Chicago in Geneva. 


MT Thaler’s fund management team is exploiting the opportunities across asset classes which arise in New Europe– the region which includes all of the ten new members of the European Union as well as neighboring countries like, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Ukraine and Bulgaria.


The team of three principals has 35 years of combined experience in the region working as analysts or traders at top-name investment banks before starting MT Thaler in the 3rd quarter of 2003.


MT Thaler Investment Management LLP, which is based in London, is authorised and regulated in the UK by the Financial Services Authority.
