Equity Trust, a provider of trust and fiduciary services, has appointed five people for its global sales team.

Dik-Jan Jetses assumes overall responsibility for sales and business development for the Dutch commercial team, working alongside Carsten Cramer and Peter Soesbeek.

The team is completed by Marcel Sikking, who will have primary responsibility for the development of the tax intermediary market in The Netherlands.

Julia Bron will be working out of Amsterdam in a role that will focus on Eastern Europe and the CIS States, while Natascha Scholten will be responsible for forging relationships in the London market, as part of the business development team in the UK.

In Asia, Tom Leenders has joined the Singapore office.

The new team is headed by group head of corporate services Frank Welman, with the new starters all taking the title of commercial director.

“Winning new business is one of our leading priorities for 2010,” says Welman. “Equity Trust has had its best year ever and we want to take this opportunity to increase the gap between us and our competitors.

“We are investing in our future growth by making these appointments to our sales team. All our new recruits come to us with proven track records, and I expect them to become valuable assets to the company.”

After starting his career with Ernst & Young, trained tax lawyer Jetses worked for Rabobank and First Alliance Trust. He joined Citco Nederland in 2003 and was involved in the company’s expansion into the Eastern Europe and Asia-Pacific regions before assuming a senior business development and marketing role.

Bron was an audit manager for Deloitte for nine years including spells working in her native Belarus, Slovenia and Amsterdam. She subsequently spent a year in a management role for worldwide hedge fund administrator Citco Fund Services and most recently worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Amsterdam.

An experienced tax lawyer with more than 12 years’ experience in London, New York, Dublin and her native Holland, Scholten’s previous employers include Moody’s Investors Service, Barclays Capital, ING Bank and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Sikking is a trained tax lawyer who joins Equity Trust from legal and financial publishing specialists Wolters Kluwer, where he worked as a publisher and senior publisher for 11 years.

Leenders began his career in banking for ABN Amro and Mees Pierson in his native Holland. He subsequently worked for ING Bank in Curaçao and Geneva, and then moved to Singapore where he worked for Credit Suisse Private Bank for two years before joining Equity Trust.
