US long/short equity hedge fund Rock Crest Capital, LLC, has appointed Patrick S Wayland as Managing Director, with responsibility for portfolio management.  

Rock Crest Capital, which focuses on the global impact of technological change, employs extensive proprietary research, disciplined methodologies and stringent risk controls to deliver absolute returns for eligible institutional and high-net-worth accredited investors.  
 
‘I have known Pat for eight years and his appointment adds significant strength to our investment team,’ says Greg McCall, Founder and Portfolio Manager of Rock Crest Capital. ‘We consider him to be among the industry’s best buyside mangers, and his addition brings our team’s combined sector experience to 30 years. Prior to his appointment at Rock Crest Capital, Wayland served as Head of Technology Research and as a Portfolio Manager at Heirloom Capital. Before that, he was Head of Trading and a Technology Analyst at C Blair Asset Management, and prior to his time on Wall Street, he was a Research Scientist at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, having earned a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
