OMAM UK appoints new head of institutional business

Old Mutual Asset Managers (UK) Limited (OMAM) has appointed Dermot Keegan as Managing Director of its institutional business.

Keegan joins OMAM from ABN Amro Investment Management, where he has worked since 1998 as Head of Institutional UK, having previously held senior positions at Henderson Global Investors and NatWest Investment Management.

"I am delighted that Dermot is joining OMAM,’says chief executive Peter Baxter. ‘Hiring such an experienced and high calibre professional as Dermot clearly demonstrates our commitment to the growth of our institutional business. One third of our total assets are currently managed on behalf of institutional clients globally, with most of the new mandates won over recent years being into specialist high performance and absolute return products. It is our strategic intention to continue to grow this part of our business, using our established expertise UK and global equities, hedge funds and structured products.’

Commenting on his appointment, Keegan says: "I am thoroughly looking forward to joining OMAM.  I have been extremely impressed with the quality of their underlying investment expertise, the success they have enjoyed over the last five years and their commitment to growing institutional assets under management.’
